July 15th, 2009

A reform in the Anhembi Sambadrome, scheduled to end in 30 days, will bring news to the public that will attend the carnival in 2010. The announcement was made during the ownership of the new board of the Independent League of Samba Schools in São Paulo yesterday, in an event in the Field of Mars district, north of the capital.

- Following a request we, the Mayor of the reformed part of the public and eliminate the gap. With this, the next Carnival, people will be at the level of the track and will not lose any detail of parades – celebrated the new president of the League, Paulo Sérgio Ferreira, Serginho of the Vila Maria.

The president of São Paulo Turismo (SPTuris), Caio Luiz de Carvalho – who is responsible for administering the Sambadrome -, praised the changes.

- Now, thanks to better accommodation of the public, the Anhembi will have also other events like concerts for example – said.

He says the reform cost US$ 500,000.

In addition to the news for the Anhembi, Serginho da Vila also intends to strengthen the Carnival of São Paulo during his administration, which is four years.

- We work to bring the samba schools to major tourist events in the capital, such as the Formula 1. Or even to sights such as the Municipal Theater and the Sala São Paulo.

According to the President of the League, the idea is to extend the timetable by a brand of Carnival of the city that would not be restricted only to two-day parade.

For Serginho da Vila, the Sao Paulo Carnival has to be better known inside.
